Link Click

Overview

The Link Click Trigger initiates actions in a flow when a contact clicks a designated link. This trigger allows you to automate processes based on user interaction with links in emails or pages, directing contacts to a specified URL after the click while tracking engagement for flow reporting.

Link Clicked

When to Use

Use the Link Click Trigger to:

  • Automate follow-up actions, such as applying tags or sending additional emails, based on link interactions.
  • Start a flow when a contact clicks a link in an email or webpage.
  • Track user engagement for conversion metrics in flow reports.
  • Redirect contacts to specific landing pages or resources after clicking.

How It Works

When a contact clicks the provided link, the trigger activates the associated flow, completing its actions (e.g., applying tags, sending emails). The contact is then redirected to the URL specified in the trigger settings. The click is logged for conversion tracking in the flow report, providing insights into user engagement.

Setup Instructions

  1. Click the (+) or drag and drop the Link Click Trigger into your flow from the triggers menu.
  2. Configure the settings:
    • Copy This Link: Copy the generated link to include in an email or webpage.
    • Redirect To: Enter the URL where the contact will be redirected after clicking the link.
  3. Save the flow to activate the trigger.

Example Use Case

A small business sends a promotional email with a link to a limited-time offer on their website. By embedding the Link Click Trigger’s link in the email, they configure the trigger to apply a “Interested” tag to contacts who click it and redirect them to the offer page. The flow then sends a follow-up email with additional product details. The business tracks click conversions in the flow report to measure the campaign’s success, identifying engaged contacts for future promotions.

FAQs / Troubleshooting

Q: Why isn’t the trigger activating when the link is clicked?
A: Ensure the link was copied correctly and embedded properly in the email or page. Verify that the flow is active and saved.

Q: Can I change the redirect URL after setting up the trigger?
A: Yes, edit the trigger settings in the flow, update the Redirect To URL, and save the changes.

Q: How do I track clicks for reporting?
A: The trigger automatically logs clicks as conversion metrics, viewable in the flow report under the relevant flow’s analytics.

Q: Can I use the same link in multiple flows?
A: No, each Link Click Trigger generates a unique link tied to a specific flow. Create separate triggers for different flows.
