Page Visited

Overview

The Page Visited Trigger initiates a flow when a contact visits a specific webpage. This trigger is useful for tracking user engagement with your website and automating actions based on their browsing behavior.

Extension Required!

The Page Visited Trigger is available with the Advanced Features addon. It can be purchased separately or as part of the Agency, Pro or Plus Plans.

When to Use

Use the Page Visited Trigger when you want to start a flow based on a contact accessing a particular page on your site. This is ideal for scenarios like triggering follow-up emails after a contact views a product page, or adding a tag when someone visits a pricing page.

How It Works

When a contact visits the specified webpage, the Page Visited Trigger detects this action via tracking mechanisms (like a pixel or cookie). Once the condition is met, the flow begins, allowing you to execute subsequent actions such as sending emails, applying tags, or stopping the flow if certain criteria are met (e.g., using a Stop logic step).

Setup Instructions

  1. Add the Trigger: In your flow builder, navigate to the “Triggers” section and select the “Activity” category. Choose the “Page Visited” trigger.
  2. Specify the Page: Enter the URL of the webpage you want to track. You can use exact matches or wildcards for broader tracking (e.g., https://example.com/product/*).
  3. Set Conditions (Optional): Add conditions to filter which contacts proceed in the flow (e.g., “Contact has tag ‘Lead’”).
  4. Add Actions: After the trigger, add actions like “Apply Tag” or “Send Email” to define what happens next.
  5. Test the Trigger: Visit the specified page as a tracked contact to ensure the flow starts as expected.

Example Use Case

A small e-commerce business wants to follow up with potential customers who show interest in their products. They set up a Page Visited Trigger for their product page (https://store.example.com/product/widget). When a contact visits this page, the flow starts, applies a “Interested in Widget” tag, and sends a personalized email with a discount code to encourage a purchase.

FAQs / Troubleshooting

Q: Why isn’t the trigger firing when I visit the page?
A: Ensure the page URL is correctly entered and that tracking is enabled on your site (e.g., the tracking pixel is installed). Also, check if the contact meets any additional conditions you’ve set.

Q: Can I track multiple pages with one trigger?
A: Yes, use wildcards in the URL (e.g., */blog/*) to track multiple pages, or set up multiple Page Visited Triggers in the same flow.

Q: What happens if the contact visits the page multiple times?
A: The trigger will fire each time the page is visited unless you add logic (like a Stop step) to prevent re-entry into the flow.
