Groundhogg 4.0 is here, and with it comes some major updates to our flow editor. Now more powerful than ever, the editor allows for visual mapping with new branching and conditions, making it easier to create dynamic customer journeys.
You will also notice a new look in our flow reporting, some new terminology and an overall cleaner look.
Here’s our Groundhogg review for 4.0 – we will break down everything new in this update.
Terminology
The core rules and concepts in Groundhogg have not changed. However, you will notice a few new words.
Funnels = Flows: Funnels no longer encapsulate the true power of the feature, so now they are called flows.
Benchmark = Triggers: “Benchmarks” is being renamed to “Triggers” to align more with industry standards. While it may not be the most descriptive language, it will aid new user comprehension.
New & Improved Look To Our Flow Editor

Our editor has now been updated with a better flow, cleaner icons, and an improved layout to reduce confusion.
The core rules of triggers and actions are similar, but some new logic updates have also been added.
The first time you enter the editor, you will find a tour that will help guide you through the new layout.
Tool Tips
When you hover over ‘+’ signs and certain icons, these will tell you what you should be doing or adding to that step. This will help guide users during their editing process.

Improved Editing Experience
Users will still be able to drag and drop their triggers and actions into a flow. But now, you will also be able to click on the ‘+’ and the icon on the right toolbar to add it to your flow.
This makes adding new steps easier for people who are using trackpads – eliminating the option to drag and drop, if you would like.
Additionally, you can use the Ctrl + m command to quickly move steps within a flow, allowing for a smoother workflow and less time spent dragging elements across the screen.
Copy & Paste
Easily duplicate steps with the new copy and paste functionality. You can now copy elements within the same flow or even between different flows, making it simple to reuse key automation sequences without rebuilding them from scratch. (You can do this using your classic Ctrl + c & Ctrl + v shortcodes.)
Undo/Redo Buttons
Made a mistake? No problem! The new Undo/Redo buttons allow you to quickly reverse or reapply recent changes, saving time and preventing errors as you refine your flows.

Search Bar
Quickly locate any action, triggers, or logic step without endless scrolling. Simply type in a keyword, and relevant options will appear instantly.

Auto Save
All changes you make will now be automatically saved, removing the need to constantly save your flow. Changes you make will only become live once you activate or publish the flow.
Flow Preview Icons

When previewing your flow list, you can now see the beginning of each flow in picture format. All of these images are clickable, meaning selecting one image will bring you directly to that part of the flow.
These images are also available when exploring the “Add New Flow” section. You can hover over these icons for a quick glance at what would be included before selecting that template.
Branching Logic
With Groundhogg 4.0, you will also be able to access more logic steps in your flow editor. This will help bring your automation to the next level.
Please note that all of these features (except the Yes/No) are only included in the Pro plan.
Yes/No Logic
Define conditions, and contacts who don’t meet them will automatically follow the “No” path.

Multi-Branch Logic
Add multiple branches that are filtered through specific tags. Rename branches for better organization and use the “Else” option to catch all contacts who don’t fit into a category.

Split Testing Logic
Test different emails and ideas by randomly splitting traffic between A and B. These paths can be split in multiple ways, such as 50/50, 25/75, etc. Set a win condition, review results within the flow, and declare a winner—ensuring future contacts follow the most effective path.

Random Distribution Logic
Assign different weights to branches, creating a randomized distribution of contacts.

Additional Logic Steps
Loop
Create recurring flows by using the loop feature. You can filter who should be looped and set a max loop condition.

Skip
Move contacts ahead in the flow based on filters, helping them bypass unnecessary steps.

Stop
Stops contacts in a flow based on filters.

Smart Date Sequence
Ideal for ongoing campaigns like holiday promotions. Instead of waiting for the next cycle, contacts will jump to the nearest relevant delay timer.

Flow Reports
The activity report now shows a preview of the flow with stats for how many people are in each step. The flow breakdown report has improved visuals.
